Finally managed to upload the other new item… a blanket!

A cool item for sure!

=================================================

05/01/25

Happy new year, a few new items that were bought at Christmas, our first Italian edition!!

From 2012 and translates too “An Afternoon With Shivers”.

Also new were a couple of pin badges and a Lowly air freshener.  All are now added to the site.  One more item still to document and add…

=================================================

02/12/25

Finally we have a new item for the collection!  We stumbled across a 1975 copy of “Storybook Dictionary” – an eighth impression so of course had to pick it up!

Great to grab a new item for the archive, it’s been a long time!

=================================================

19/08/25

Finally added a page for the new amazing item in our collection.  A Brio Busytown Fire Station!

It’s sooo cool!

=================================================

18/08/25

Been struggling to find the time to update the page recently.  A couple of new items have been added to the collection, both are duplicates though.  A second “Best Musical Money Box” and also a second copy of the 1977 “The Animals’ Merry Christmas” (was only 20p, so had to grab it).  Photos on the respective pages now.  I have one more item to add when I can too, which is a new item and pretty amazing.

=================================================

04/08/25

Actually managed to pick a book up a couple of days ago.  A 1995 copy of Best Storybook Ever for just 50p.

Added to the page now.

=================================================

16/06/25

New items!  Father’s Day yesterday and they got a few great things for the collection!

Firstly a wonderful release “It’s Fun To Learn Schoolbag” that comprises four books inside, has a little carry handle too.

And then a few items they found online, a metal Lowly Worm coloring book sign, a badge and a patch too.

They did amazingly well once again in sourcing items, thanks go to them for their hard work as ever.

=================================================

21/03/25

No new arrivals or finds in the collection for ages!  But the youngest has decided to add her collected books into the bigger collection.  All double titles (or sometimes more than double).  But the collection is now all as one.

=================================================

03/01/25

Some wonderful new additions for Christmas!

Finally we have copies of “Frances Fix-It” and “European Word Book” in the collection.  So pleased to be able to have these off the want list.  Also another copy of “Farmer Patrick Pig”.  But the really cool addition is a Lithuanian copy of “Let’s Count With Lowly”.  Very cool and awesome to have!

=================================================

17/12/24

Just another info post that there are some awesome new Super7 products out again – wave 2 is here!

More info on the Super 7 Page.

=================================================

16/12/24

New additions!  Well we have four new books on the shelves, two new pressings but all titles we have.

First up we found another copy of “Storybook Dictionary” – again the 22nd impression from 1990.  But for 20p there is no way we could have left it behind.

Then in the next shop we found three more titles in their 3 for £1 deal, so picked them all up…

A copy of “Busy, Busy World” from 1984, the 17th impression, which is now our earliest copy in the collection of this title.

Yet another copy of “What Do People Do All Day?”.  We do have this version already.

And the final find was another copy of “Best Story Book Ever”, which is the 19th impression from 1985 and is a the latest impression we have of this title.

Not a bad haul for the huge sum of £1.20.

=================================================

25/11/24

Just added this to the advertisements page that came up online…

Some very nice items, that we would love to find… maybe one day!

=================================================

11/11/24

Found a couple of new impressions of “Funniest Storybook Ever” and “What Do People Do All Day?” – two for £1 so we had to pick them up really.

It would be nice to find a new title again soon, but at least we are adding different impressions to the collection.

=================================================

21/10/24

It’s been ages since we’ve been able to add an update to the collection.  Over the weekend though we found an eleventh impression of “ABC Word Book” and a slightly different impression of “What Do People Do All Day?” – both with the asking price of 50p each, so grabbed them.

=================================================

06/08/24

Managed to get the other update posted today.  A different version of the Busytown Eye Found It! game has also been added to our collection!

One day I’ll get more photos of the sets onto the site, but for now this is the two that we have in our collection:

=================================================

06/08/24

Wow, what a wonderful find from the family for my birthday a few days ago… they sourced three Chinese versions from 2001!

Pictures are loaded in the individual book titles and also added a page to show the three books in full.  They’re an incredible addition to our collection.  And something else to add up soon as well…

=================================================

17/06/24

Once again the family smashed it out of the park for Father’s Day this year!  Never seen one in person before, but we now have a copy of “Find You ABC’s” on vinyl!

Amazing find!  And they also found a really nice Huckle & Lowly jigsaw too!

Two wonderful additions to the collection!

=================================================

10/06/24

Just an info post this time about the three new Super7 figures that have come out in America.  They look great!  Added the details to the Super7 page.

=================================================

03/06/24

Wow, we had a great find over the weekend.  A copy of “Goldilocks And The Three Bears”.  A title we were missing from the collection and at just 20p this was a wonderful addition to the collection.

=================================================

17/05/24

It’s been ages since we got any additional for the collection.  But on a recent trip to the closest charity shop we picked up two more books for the collection in their three for £1 deal.

An eighth impression of “ABC Word Book” from 1978 and another copy of the 2001 pressing of “What Do People Do All Day”.  We have a couple of these already but there is a very slight difference to the inner print details.

Nothing new to the collection title wise, just a new impression, but pleased to be able to add them.

=================================================

02/04/24

The first car boot sale of the year happened at the weekend.  The only title I could find was another copy of the 2013 edition of “Best Counting Book Ever”

No we didn’t need it.  But the seller only wanted 20p for it, so I couldn’t leave it there for that price.  It had to come home with us for the collection.

=================================================

05/03/24

We managed to pick up the Busy, Busy Airport game thanks to a cheap price on Vinted.  It’s seen better days, but better to have it than not at all!

=================================================

19/02/24

Sadly I tried to get a different version of “It’s Fun To Learn Counting” from eBay.  But the seller had advertised a different copy to the one they sent… they sent the one we already have.  So now we have two copies.

=================================================

25/01/24

Two additions to the collection thanks to eBay.  Managed to pick up copies of “Things To Know” and “Best Little Word Book Ever!” form the early 90’s, both are for the Leap Frog LeapPad learning console.  Both also came complete with the original cartridges.

“Things To Know”

“Best Little Word Book Ever!”

=================================================

27/12/23

A couple of additions…

Just before Christmas we found a copy of “I Am A Bunny” in a local charity shop.  At 3 books for £1, we grabbed it and was pleased to find it was a later press of the one we had, price has risen on the back too.  Details on the page…

And a new addition from Christmas, a copy of “It’s Fun To Learn Counting”.

=================================================

11/12/23

Had a great find in Winchester at the weekend.  A third impression from 1966 of “Best Word Book Ever”.  Our previous oldest copy was a 16th impression, so was ecstatic to pick this one up.

=================================================

28/11/23

Some new additions!  It’s been a while but we scored some nice NTSC version VHS videos over on eBay this week.  Three of them for just 99p, very happy with that.

“Sergeant Murphy’s Day Off”, “Best Learning Songs Video Ever!” and “Best Busy People Video Ever!”

=================================================

31/10/23

Managed to find a 2015 copy of “A Day At The Fire Station” at the weekend.  A new version for the collection, very pleased with this find.

=================================================

09/10/23

Finally we have a copy of “Biggest Word Book Ever!” and it’s huge!  This copy has seen better days, let’s say it’s been well loved but it was a great price and we finally have one!

=================================================

05/10/23

Another new addition to the collection.  We found a copy of “Mr Fixit – Smallest Pop-Up Book Ever!” on eBay and had to pick it up, seeing as how we’ve never seen this one before and love the Mr Frumble pop up.

=================================================

11/09/23

A new addition from the car boot sale at the weekend.  Another copy of “Huckle’s Good Manners”.  The copy we already have is from a 2010 fire engine boxset.  This one is from 2013 and there a few slight differences between the two.

Pleased to have found this for the sum of 20p and to be able to add it to the collection.  Though now the wonder if is there are 7 others like this that we need to try and find…

=================================================

05/09/23

Finally some new additions!  First up we came across a copy of “Mr. Frumble’s Coffee Shop Disaster”.  A new title for the collection, one we had only seen on eBay before, so we were pleased to be able to add this one.

We also picked up another copy of “My Day” cause it was so cheap we just couldn’t leave it there!

I think that might make five copies of “My Day” we have in the collection now.

=================================================

03/08/23

New additions!  Three new books for the collection and another copy of the jigsaw that we recently picked up that was sadly missing a piece.  This time we have a complete one.

New titles: “Dr Doctor” and “The Worst Helper Ever!”.  And a new version of “The Animals Merry Christmas”.

=================================================

03/08/23

Some new additions are coming… but for now, I’ve added up a link to the Super7 series of toys that have been released.

Details here: https://richardscarrycollector.car.blog/other/super-7-collection/

=================================================

09/07/23

We spotted a jigsaw on eBay and the price was right.  Picked it up, but sadly it arrived with one piece missing.

A huge shame…

=================================================

19/06/23

Another bonus find by the smallest collector!  A copy of “Best Word Book Ever” – a giant Golden Book, which ISBN tells us was from 1999.  A charity shop find, great work!

=================================================

19/06/23

Yesterday was Father’s Day, which meant a few new titles from the family for the collection!

New titles in “The Cat Family’s Busy Day” and “Jouons A L’Ecole” – a French language version of “Great Big Schoolhouse”.  Brilliant finds.  A new version of “Best Counting Book Ever” from 2022 and another copy of “The Gingerbread Man” (to be fair they thought this was a new press as we only had a 2015 issue, but the date isn’t mentioned inside, but can be found on the ISBN database).

Wonderful stuff from the gang, much appreciated.

=================================================

05/06/23

A new addition to the collection!  We randomly stopped at a jumble sale on Saturday and I found a copy of “Best First Book Ever!” from 1990.  It’s not in the best condition, the first page is ripped and taped back, but they were asking 10p for it!  Obviously it had to be picked up for the collection.

=================================================

27/04/23

A new addition – a Mr. Frumble soft toy!!!

Very happy to add this to our collection, thanks to an eBay find.

=================================================

04/04/23

A great addition to the collection today.  We picked up a copy of “Best Word Book Ever / El Mejer Libro De Palabras”.  Discover the busy world of Richard Scarry for the first time ever in English and Spanish!  A translation book for both languages!

It’s a 2014 press and very cool!

=================================================

23/03/23

Another amazing find today!  In the local charity shops as well, a 2015, 50th anniversary edition of “Busy, Busy World”.

After nothing for ages, we’ve had a stunning week of finds.  Bring on the car boot sale season…

=================================================

20/03/23

We took a trip to Andover and always on these little jaunts, we visit the charity shops which means I flick through the books in the hope I may find some Scarry goodness.  It’s quite rare to strike gold but today was something else…

First up I found a new title “Two-minute Bedtime Stories” and then a copy of “A Day At The Fire Station” with stickers!  Two new books, well the stickers part is new… sadly one was missing, but the shop wanted just 50p a book!  Absolutely ecstatic with these two finds.  Then later on in another shop I found a copy of “My Day”, this time a fifth edition from 1987 and the other’s in our collection are third editions from 1986, again at 50p this was of course purchased.

One totally new book for the collection, two new versions of other books, what a great day!

=================================================

21/02/23

Thanks to the company on eBay who supplied a book where the piano didn’t work, they sent us a free book to say sorry!  So a new title for the collection, This Is Me.

=================================================

20/02/23

Another addition over the weekend, though it is a duplicate.  We stumbled across a copy of “Billy Dog’s Bad Day” for just 20p in a local charity shop and couldn’t leave it there for that price…

=================================================

14/02/23

Second update of the day, this time to the “Cars And Trucks And Things That Go” page.  The 2010 HarperCollins editions.  Yesterday we found a copy of the book with the “50 Years” logo on the front in a charity shop, so picked that up.

Also checked the two copies we had in the collection and both have slightly different ISBN codes:

So have updated the page with more info.

=================================================

14/02/23

Update 1 for today… a new edition to the collection… we grabbed a US edition of “Favorite Christmas Carols” from eBay – nice to see this with the US spelling and a very different design from the copy we already have.  Sadly the piano on this one also doesn’t work, which was a shame.

=================================================

23/01/23

Another duplicate for the collection.  We were browsing the charity shops in Andover and books were 3 for £1, so when the youngest family member found two, we added this one to the pile.  Another copy of the 1991 Ted Smart edition of “Storybook Dictionary”.

=================================================

18/01/23

The latest eBay acquisition arrived today, a 1981 copy of “Peasant Pig And The Terrible Dragon”.

Not a new title for the collection but a new version as we only had a 2009 version before this.  A great find at the right price.

=================================================

16/01/23

Two entries in one day!  A DVD arrived for the collection today thanks to an eBay purchase.

A copy from 2010 of “The Busy World Of Richard Scarry – It’s A Busy, Busy Day!” – 10 episodes.  Yes, I am aware we have the complete series on DVD, but we didn’t have this one, so had to have it really.

Also managed to grab another book off eBay today as well, just another version of a title we already have, so hopefully that will be with us soon as well.

=================================================

16/01/23

It’s crazy how we’ve gone from 1 copy to 3 copies of a book in just a few days!  After getting sent a copy of “My Day” earlier this week, we found another copy at the weekend in a charity shop for just 25p and couldn’t leave it there!  So we now have three copies!

=================================================

13/01/23

Just a post about a potential new line of toys coming out via Super7 who make the ReAction figures… could be some cool stuff to come…

Link: https://super7.com/

=================================================

10/01/23

Happy new year!  A mate very kindly sent over a couple of books for the collection.  sadly we already have them both, but they are very much appreciated… or so we thought!

A second copy of the third pressing of “My Day” from 1986 and another copy of “Mr Fixit And Other Stories”, the Collins Colour Cubs from 1977.  But “Mr Fixit” is a bit different….back cover and inside covers, so was interesting to see.

Thanks Russell!

=================================================

26/12/22

And what a Merry Christmas that was for the collection!  Three new books and also a Hilda badge – amazing 🙂  Thanks to the gang for picking these up!

=================================================

09/12/22

A new addition!  We found the 2010 HarperCollins release of “The Night Before The Night Before Christmas” in a charity shop for just 30p!  What a bargain and a very welcome find for the collection.

=================================================

14/11/22

Added a page for “The Road To Busytown” Exhibit.

HERE

=================================================

09/11/22

It’s been a while since we had anything new to add to the collection.  But this morning I picked up another copy of the 2013 edition of “Busiest People Ever”.  I know this is a duplicate but the condition was amazing and was only 50p, I couldn’t leave it there for that price.

=================================================

03/10/22

Nothing new to update, just a link to an exhibition in CT, USA.

The Road to Busytown Opening Celebration

Site is here: LINK

=================================================

21/09/22

It’s been slim pickings lately so I resorted to an eBay purchase as I was itching for a new addition to the collection.  We picked a copy of “Short And Tall” up, a second impression from 1985 – a new title to the collection.

Nice book and another one that’s very welcome on our shelves.

=================================================

18/08/22

The youngest one picked up two books at the local car boot sale.  Very much standard books that we already had, or so we thought… these actually led us to discover different ISBN numbers on the books, something we’d never noticed before.

A new ISBN for “Funniest Storybook Ever”

And across the five copies we have of “What Do People Do All Day?”, we seem to have three different ISBN numbers…

Great find by the youngest and interesting to notice these slight differences too.

=================================================

03/08/22

Another addition today, this time a charity shop find.  A 1991 copy of “Storybook Dictionary”, which is via Ted Smart.  Our other 1991 pressing is via Dean.  Pleasing find today.  Maybe not a new title, but still great to find a new addition/pressing.

=================================================

03/08/22

It’s that time of year again where a birthday falls and books arrive, love days like this.  Not so much the getting older, but the new books.

The gang very kindly added three books to the collection, two new titles and one different pressing, all added to the site now.

Great work and I’m ever so grateful to them.

=================================================

04/07/22

Finally a car boot sale find! The youngest spotted a 2011 edition copy of “ABC Word Book” in superb condition.  Well worth the 20p asking price.  A great find and she got bought an ice cream for being such a great spotter!

=================================================

21/06/22

Another new addition to the collection, a copy of “The Pig Family” added via eBay.

=================================================

20/06/22

Wow the gang did well for Father’s Day this year! 4 new additions!

Three new titles and one different pressing!  Amazing!

=================================================

23/05/22

It’s been ages since we last found some treasure.  Do we have to resort to eBay again soon?  The car boot sales are back and there’s not been much yet.  Saying that, this week, the youngest found a copy of “Christmas Mice” and wanted her own copy.  So we grabbed that and also another copy of “Trains” – 50p for the pair, well worth one happy daughter.

=================================================

25/04/22

A couple of new additions to the collection at the weekend.  First up, the youngest found a copy of “Can You Count?” – a book from 1979 in a local charity shop for just 20p.  Very excited to add this version to the collection.

And in the same shop they also had a copy of the 2015 pressing of “What Do People Do All day?” – a really nice hardback edition and it was only £1 so although we didn’t need it, we got it anyways.

=================================================

28/03/22

There was a book sale at the youngest daughter’s school at the end of last week, so we of course had to check it out.  A couple of Scarry books were spotted, so we grabbed them, even though we have copies already.

=================================================

21/03/22

The car boot sales have started, but sadly this week there were no new finds for the collection.  But on Saturday we found ourselves over in Andover and one of the charity shops had their children books at just 10p each.  So I couldn’t resist another copy of “What Do People Do All Day?” – I’d hate to know just how many copies of this book are in the collection.  But at just 10p, this really was a bargain that we couldn’t pass up.

=================================================

28/02/22

We took a trip to Camberley last weekend and managed to add a couple more books to the collection.  Another copy of “Cars And Trucks And Things That Go” from 2001, which is in really good condition.  Also a new title to the collection, “The Best Bedtime Stories Ever”.

=================================================

16/02/22

After a slow January adding to the collection, it seems that February is treating us very well!

First up, managed to grab a double DVD set from eBay stupidly cheap.  9 discs in all!  Region 1 releases.

Really pleased to be able to pick these two up, lots of hours watching ahead!

Also in one of the local charity shops we found another copy of the 2005 Marks & Spencers edition of “What Do People Do All Day”, it was only £1 so we just had to pick it up…

A great day of additions.

=================================================

10/02/22

Really happy to add the Busytown Roadway Starter Kit to the collection.  Having not seen one of these before it was amazing to see if on Facebook marketplace and the seller kindly agreed to post it to us.  It is missing the traffic light, but we can definitely live with that, an incredible addition!

Pictures: https://richardscarrycollector.car.blog/other/busytown-roadway-starter-kit/

=================================================

07/02/22

Managed to pick a really nice set of three board books thanks to eBay.  “I Know My Shapes”, “I Know My Colours” and “I Know my Opposites”.  All in great condition and a very nice addition to the collection.

I’ve spotted a couple of items as well recently, never seen one of them before and just a picture of the other one.  I’m hoping to add at least one to the collection soon, fingers crossed I can get these items secured…

=================================================

28/01/22

A new addition!  A copy of “The Early Bird” arrived today.  A second impression from 1972, in great shape.  Always nice to add another new title to the collection, thanks eBay.

=================================================

04/01/22

Happy new year.  Nothing new to add today, just adding a new picture of the McDonalds range from the mid 90’s…

=================================================

30/12/21

One final addition for the year… when we were out we spotted a 1983 pressing of “Best Story Book Ever”, a sixteenth impression.  So we of course had to add it to the collection.

Means we have a 6th, 16th and 18th impression of this book now.  Still lots to find…

=================================================

27/12/21

A great few new additions from Christmas this year.

A set of all four of the McDonalds toys from 1995 and a bagged post office as well.  Added to the page here: https://richardscarrycollector.car.blog/mcdonalds-happy-meal-toys/

Two new book additions as well with “Great Steamboat Mystery” and another version of “Best Little Word Book Ever!”

Also a handmade printed mobile phone case, which is of course too nice to actually use.

Thanks to the family for these to add to the collection.

=================================================

22/12/21

Found a third impression from 1968 of “Animal Mother Goose” in a local charity shop.  Sadly we already had it, but I got it anyways for the collection as the copy is nicer than the one I already have.

=================================================

21/12/21

A new addition…. “Find Your ABC’s” arrived today.  Not in the best condition, but better to have a copy in the collection than to not have a copy at all…

=================================================

07/12/21

There’s been a couple of new books and some toys turn up recently, but they have been put away for Christmas, so the wait has to go on to be able to add them to the collection.

But, we managed to win the auction on eBay for three sealed Busy World toys from 1995. French release.  They’re awesome!

Page has been added to the site.  very happy with these new additions to the collection.

==================================================

13/11/21

We took a trip to Wantage yesterday, which means I get to check out not just their charity shops but also the wonderful second hand book store that’s there.  The charity shops came up short with nothing found at all.  But in the second hand book store, I managed to grab three Richard Scarry titles in their “5 for £1” kids section!

First up a 1976 copy of “Suzy’s Holiday”.  A different edition from the one we already have (which is a fourth impression from 1981).  Great find!

Also managed to grab a copy of “A Big Operation” and “The Snowstorm”.  We already have this version of “A Big Operation”.  But turns out we only had the US version of “The Snowstorm” and this is the UK version, so another great find and addition to the collection/archive.

Also nice to find some new additions on a digging trip.  60p well spent on these three.

==================================================

11/11/21 – Part Two

The wonderful Richard Scarry website (HERE) has some models you can print out and make.  Loads of fun and here’s our first one, Lowly!

There’s a few more to make, we’ll get them made as soon as we have a chance.

Check them out (and more) HERE: https://www.richardscarry.com/games

==================================================

11/11/21

Sadly no new additions to add today (though I do know a new book has arrived but has been put away as a Christmas present).  But on our eBay scrolling we found a few interesting items that are very worthy of popping on here.

Firstly a set of the mid 90’s toys.  Some great photos and I’ve added them to the archive here.

And a Busy Board Book and Bean Bag Box of “Smokey’s Fire Engine” which looks amazing, but sadly is so very expensive due to shipping from the US.  But here’s the pictures for reference…

==================================================

08/11/21

Another new jigsaw arrival.  This time the “Spring” jigsaw from the Four Seasons series in 1963.  Half way there with this series now.

==================================================

21/10/21

Another new addition that arrived earlier this week was a wonderful jigsaw from 1979.  48 pieces, wooden and in great shape.  Box has seen better days but it’s all there which is the main thing.

==================================================

13/10/21

We picked up another new addition to the collection the other day.  A copy of “Vrooming, Zooming Stories” found in a charity shop for just 50p.  The book collects together three other titles into one: A Day At The Police Station, A Day At The Airport & A Day At The Fire Station.

A great find!  One that’s been on the list for a while as well.

==================================================

23/09/21

Another addition to the collection.  Via eBay, a 1989 edition of Lowly Worm Storybook on Random House.

==================================================

08/09/21

Another addition to the collection that we found recently was a 2009 edition of “What Do People Do All Day?”  We now have many, many copies of this title, I’m sure we’ll get more at some point too!

==================================================

26/08/21

We took a trip to Swindon yesterday and had an amazing day with finding Scarry treasures.

Here’s the haul:

First up, the eldest daughter found two video CDs in a charity shop.  We’ve never seen these before, they were sealed and have minimal information on them.  It was very hard to contain the excitement at finding these.  Priced at just 49p each to find they sold us 6 items for £1 which included these was incredible.

Amazing start to the day.  But then to also find a few books was just wonderful.  A 2015 hardback edition of “Trucks” that we didn’t already have (which goes with “Cars”) for 20p was great.  Also we found another new title “The Space Shuttle And Other Fun Things” for just 40p.  We also bought another copy of “Busytown Boat Race” and “Busytown Race Day” which ended up being the US release of “Busytown Racers”.  Amazing!

A really wonderful day of digging in charity shops today, some incredible finds and so nice to add new items to our collection.

==================================================

22/08/21

A visit to the local car boot sale and we couldn’t leave behind these two for just 10p each.

A copy of “Cars And Trucks And Things That Go” from 2001, but it seems this one was printed in Thailand, the one we already have in the collection was printed in Hong Kong.  Also a 22nd edition of “Storybook Dictionary”, which we already have.  There was no way we could leave it at the price though.

==================================================

21/08/21

Sadly a trip to Winchester didn’t uncover any Scarry gold.  But, we did see what the Waterstones store had to offer…

==================================================

17/08/21

We may have left the local Oxfam kids book section like this yesterday…

==================================================

09/08/21

Another update… took a trip to one of our favourite bookshops in Wantage and found two more Richard Scarry books, in the 5 for £1 section, so grabbed them, even though we have these titles.

Further copies of “The Treasure Hunt” and “A Big Operation”.  Turns out that the version we have of “A Big Operation” is a US/CAN release, this is the UK one and there are some slight differences in the cover too…

So a great addition there without even realising in grabbing the UK release.

==================================================

04/08/21

A wonderful haul from the family for my birthday.  Including a custom made Bananas Gorilla tote bag and mousemat!

And a few more books, new additions being “Rabbit And His Friends” and “The Sleeping Car Adventure”.  Also different editions of “Farmer Patrick Pig” and “Good Morning, Busytown!”.

Birthdays are great! Thanks gang!

==================================================

02/07/21

Not so many new additions recently, but we did manage to snag this one cheap on eBay.  A copy of “Busytown Pop-Up Book”.  Another new title for the collection, this one is from 1980.

Info page is here: https://richardscarrycollector.car.blog/busytown-pop-up-book/

==================================================

07/06/21

Finally a new addition.  Struck lucky at the local car boot sale yesterday as we were about to grab a copy of “Longest Book Ever!”.  I’ve been hoping to get this one for a while and have seen it for £5-£8 approx (plus postage) on eBay, so to find it at the car boot was awesome.  And it was only 20p!  Absolute bargain!

==================================================

10/05/21

Two updates… first updates for a while… but finally two new additions to the collection/archive.

First up is a new title: “Busy Busy Word Book”.

img_1224-1

It’s been scribbled in the front and the back, but it was only 50p from eBay and it’s great to be able to have a new title on the shelf.

Next up is the first of the car boot sale finds of the year.  Another version of “Best Busy Year Ever”.   So we took a risk on this one as I was sure we had it, turns out we did really well here.  We do now have two copies of the 1991 pressing from Western Publishing.  This copy is the USA printed version, the one we had before was the UK Deluxe version, printed in Italy.  So a new pressing to the archive and a real bargain at only 20p for a hard back book!

Update #2 for the day!

I was lucky enough to find a set of the 1995 McDonalds Happy Meal toys.  Still sealed!  Very happy to have added these to the collection.

img_0506

You can check the page out with pictures here.

There is an under 3’s version of Lowly Worm as well.  One to try and find now…

==================================================

01/04/21

I am really struggling with this new version of WordPress, the ease of updating and making changes has gone.  Not sure what we’ll do going forward.  But anyways, the first new addition recently was another jigsaw.  A 35 piece one from 2012…

IMG_0500

An eBay pick up and more info/pictures are here.

More updates when we can, WordPress is making it much harder than it should be…

==================================================

26/03/21

So WordPress has changed and this is much harder to update now.  Not very impressed right now.  Seems long winded and a nightmare compared to how it was…. anyways…. a new jigsaw addition to the collection:

img_0424

==================================================

15/03/21

Another new title from eBay… a 1992 copy of “Mr. Frumble’s Sticker Fun” – sadly the copy is used and the stickers are already in the book, but we’ve not seen this one before, so a very welcome addition.

=================================================

01/03/21

Had a great find yesterday!  Found these on the local Facebay, just a five min drive away.  Five books for just £4!  Two new titles for the collection (“Bedtime Stories” and “Mr. Frumble’s Worst Day Ever!”) and two editions we didn’t already have (of “Busiest People Ever” and “What Do People Do All Day?”.  Also a third copy of “Best Bedtime Book Ever” in that edition.  But for just £4 we really can’t complain!

=================================================

17/02/21

Two new additions to the archive arrived yesterday.  A small book called “Busy Words” and another edition of “What Do People Do All Day?” from 2005, a hardback exclusive for Marks & Spencer.

Both nice and cheap via eBay – a good delivery day here!

=================================================

09/02/21

Another new addition to our collection.  We managed to pick up a cassette of “The Three Little Pigs” along with another copy of the book.  Having not seen this before, the price was in range, so we grabbed it!

Link: https://richardscarrycollector.car.blog/various/cassette-the-three-little-pigs/

=================================================

05/02/21

Finally a new addition to the collection!  Managed to pick a jigsaw puzzle up from eBay.

Info here: https://richardscarrycollector.car.blog/various/jigsaw-puzzle-canal-boat/

=================================================

18/01/21

Just added a few images to the various products page today.

https://richardscarrycollector.car.blog/other/various-products/

Crazy expensive – maybe one day these are things we might be able to add to the collection.  Pipe dreams!

=================================================

11/01/21

A new addition to the collection via eBay.  A 1977 copy of “At Work”, not in the best condition, but great to be able to add a new title to our archive.

=================================================

04/01/21

A few new products that have come out in America via a company called Yoytoy (https://www.yottoy.com/), three characters with vehicles.

Bananas Gorilla

Lowly Worm

Huckle Cat

$25 each – love to be able to get these one day… if only they became available in the UK!

Link: https://www.yottoy.com/collections/richard-scarry

=================================================

23/12/20

Oops, took a risk on a book, turns out we already had it.  Oh well, looks like we now have two copies of ‘The Big Busy Book Of Richard Scarry’ in the collection.

I’ve also added a few more pictures to the various page of items I have seen over on eBay, sadly out of our price range due to overseas shipping.  A great Bananas Gorilla zipper pull and a CD-Rom.  Two items we would love to add to the collection, maybe one day!

=================================================

22/12/20

Another little arrival from eBay.  Managed to pick up three of the small Hamlyn books, all sixth impressions from 1983.

This was a second copy of ‘At Play’, the other being a fourth impression from 1981.  Here’s the two of them together…

Here’s a shot of our collection so far…

=================================================

07/12/20

Managed a trip to Wantage yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to see the second hand bookshop was open there.  Sadly nothing Scarry in the main section, but I did pick up another copy of “Please And Thank You Book”, which is a cleaner copy than the one we already owned.  Part of their 5 kids books for £1 deal, so pretty happy with that.

=================================================

23/11/20

Sadly nothing new to add to the collection.  Just an update to say I have added some photos of some wonderful French release toys that were on eBay recently (but sadly at a crazy price of £60 for the three!) I am not surprised to see them unsold at this price, however nice they are.

I’ve added the images to the various products page here:

https://richardscarrycollector.car.blog/other/various-products/

=================================================

27/10/20

Finally a new addition to the collection!

Managed to get a very cheap Sega Pico game called “Huckle And Lowly’s Busiest Day Ever” from eBay.  I had never heard of the console before, but it seems to have been around from 93-98ish.  The game is dated 1994.

=================================================

28/09/20

A quick trip to Thatcham on Saturday saw a quick look in the charity shops and we picked up a few books.  One pressing we didn’t have of “Best Counting Book Ever” which we’d been trying to find for a while, as this completes the 10 book set from HarperCollins that came in a plastic case.  50p, great stuff.

And we picked up another five books, the smallest daughter said that she “needed” them for her collection, they were in amazing condition at 50p each, so I could hardly say no to her…

=================================================

16/09/20

Another great find on eBay was a second Phillips CD-I interactive disc/game.  A welcome addition to the collection, though we’ll probably never be able to actually play it!

=================================================

11/09/20

Another great pick up from eBay arrived today.  A 1963 jigsaw, which it seems is potentially part of a set of the Four Seasons, this one is Autumn.

Page info here: https://richardscarrycollector.car.blog/various/jigsaw-puzzle-four-seasons-autumn/

=================================================

04/09/20

A new addition to the collection, this time from eBay for just 50p – a 1979 Collins hardback edition of “Can You Count?”.

=================================================

14/08/20

Managed a rummage in a couple of charity shops and a boom shop in Felixstowe last Friday.  Managed to find a copy of “Busy, Busy World” which was just 25p! Amazing find and a title we didn’t have on the shelf.  The only other find was a copy of “Storybook Dictionary”, but it was a pressing we already had, so left that one on the shelf for some other lucky reader.

==================================================

13/08/20

03/08/20

Wow the family did well yesterday, which was my birthday.  A huge haul!  Eight books and some parts to a Puzzletown Playset!  Stunning work, one very happy birthday boy I can tell you!

==================================================

29/07/20

We popped along to check out the local Wednesday lunchtime car boot sale and picked up three Scarry books, for a quid.  Thinking one of them was a new addition to the collection (turns out we had it, but it hadn’t been added to the page, oops!).

==================================================

27/07/20

Finally a new addition to the collection!  Managed to grab a copy of ‘Cowboys And Indians’ from eBay.  A 1957 Giant Little Golden Book, pictures by Richard Scarry.

==================================================

24/07/20

Nothing new sadly (been put on temporary ban for a few weeks due to my birthday coming up), but spotted these on Instagram.  A series of Italian released books with cassettes.

==================================================

30/06/20

What an amazing delivery we had today!  I had actually given up on owning these a while back due to the prices and how if they did come up they seemed to go quickly.  But when a set came onto eBay, I sent an offer in, not expecting a positive result, but the seller accepted it!  So happy!  Then they messaged me to say they had found some more and I gave them another offer, which they accepted and now we actually have some of the Brio sets!

There’s a couple of issues with some of the characters being broken, Lowly has seen better days, but better to have than have not as they say.  Really chuffed that we have been able to add these to our collection.

You can see them all here: https://richardscarrycollector.car.blog/various/brio-sets/

Looks like we might just be missing Sgt. Murphy and his police car now.  And the stations themselves.  So happy!

==================================================

23/06/20

Another delivery today thanks to eBay.  Can’t wait to be able to go hunting in stores again!  Anyways, a new addition today of a 2005, hardback edition of ‘Funniest Storybook Ever’.

==================================================

22/06/20

What with yesterday being Father’s Day, the kids got a few additions to the collection thanks to some eBay auctions.  A nice four mini book set called ‘Christmas Tales’, a 1991 copy of ‘Best Busy Year Ever’, a new title in ‘ABC’s’ and also two more VHS videos.

What a haul! Thanks kids!

==================================================

17/06/20

Had a couple of arrivals in the post today thanks to some eBay purchasing.  First up is a plush Hilda Hippo cuddly toy:

And finally picked up a 1987 Playskool, Sail-A-Mouse Raft.  This was nice and cheap too, there is a boxed one up there for four times the price we for this one for.

Definitely a good post day today.

==================================================

16/06/20

And still we are in a state of lockdown, but with shops opening from this week, will we see the charity shops open up for some browsing of books options?

Anyways, this is just another info post as I spotted this on eBay.  A Mr. Frumble soap dish.  Though it’s up for $140!  Ouch!

==================================================

29/05/20

Lockdown is still in place, so charity and book shop rummaging is still not possible.  Also not much that’s been exciting on eBay of late, a few things but with no success sadly.  But just wanted to pop this up here, a picture of the Richard Scarry McDonald’s Happy Meal bag, which I hadn’t seen before.

==================================================

18/05/20

Another eBay addition was a boxed version of the Best Little Word Book Ever, Leap Frog interactive game for their LeapPad learning system.

Page here: https://richardscarrycollector.car.blog/various/leap-frog-game-best-little-word-book-ever/

==================================================

11/05/20

We received these wonderful, handmade, embroidered hoops today.  Made by our talented friend Claire, they are amazing!

==================================================

29/04/20

Had a couple of books turn up from eBay today.  One new addition to the collection “Colour Book”, a nice hardback book.  And a 1978, third impression copy of “Best Counting Book Ever”.

==================================================

27/04/20

Saw this posted online, thought I’d just pop it on here for fun.

==================================================

21/04/20

Obviously we are still under a lockdown so the chance to rummage some charity shops or old book stores just isn’t possible.  But I did pick this one up from eBay for a cheap price.

==================================================

09/04/20

Next arrival from eBay is a Philips CD-I disc.  Now I had read about these, but this is the first one I had seen come up on eBay UK, so I grabbed it for the collection.  No chance to play it, but a very nice item.

Another eBay arrival was a third boxed version of the Puzzletown: Set D – Mayor Fox’s Town Center.  This was an absolute steal at a fiver.  The plan is to use the bits to complete another set fully and then the smallest one of the family can play with the parts and have fun.  A great buy this one at a crazy price!

==================================================

08/04/20

I have resorted to eBay.  I miss the thrill of the hunt in old book stores and charity shops, but the lockdown means that can’t happen.  So I have picked a few things up from eBay recently.  First up was a new title for the collection, “Polite Elephant”.

More coming soon…

==================================================

26/03/20

Being on this lockdown and the shops being closed means no chance to rummage for books.  But we very kindly received this one through the post from a friend.  A copy of “Planes And Rockets And Things That Fly” which is a HarperCollins press from 2011 and very slightly different to what we already have, with the 50 years logo on the front and on the side there is an added balloon.  A very kind present indeed.

==================================================

16/03/20

A Saturday rummage in Felixstowe turned up a few gems!  First find was a copy of “The Animals’ Merry Christmas” from 1977 for a quid.  In the same shop, I found “A Day At The Police Station”, another new title for 50p and also picked up further copies of “A Day At The Firestation” and “A Day At The Airport”, both for 50p.  Then in another shop, I found a copy of “With the Animals” for just 20p! Bargain stuff right there.  So two new titles for the collection, a great day’s digging.

==================================================

09/03/20

Finally added a few pictures of the six Puzzletown People that were won from eBay recently.  Pretty exciting to have these in the collection.

==================================================

02/03/20 (Part 2)

Just a quick eBay update.  Last week 8 auctions went live for sealed Puzzletown toys!  Puzzletown People, they were released in 1976.

Two of them went for over £9 each.  But, we did win the auctions for the other six! Though right now we are still waiting on some information from the seller so we can complete the payment and receive the items, pretty exciting stuff.  Here’s the pictures from eBay…

https://richardscarrycollector.car.blog/other/puzzletown-series/puzzletown-people/

==================================================

02/03/20

No new finds over the weekend.  Though we did pick up another copy of “Good Night, Little Bear” for 75p as it was a really nice copy and it’s such a nice book.

The only other finds were three books from the “Busy Day Storybooks” series.  But, we have the four in a carry box already, so we left these ones in the store (£1 each!), though we left them in pride of place.

The “Busy Day Storybooks” set is here: https://richardscarrycollector.car.blog/books/busy-day-storybooks/

==================================================

25/02/20

Just an info post this time.  Saw these posted on Instagram.  Not sure if these are real releases, prototypes or fan creations, but they look really great!

==================================================

24/02/20

Not a bad weekend for finds as I actually picked up a couple of new titles for the collection.  On Saturday we were in Andover and found a copy of “Pickle Pig’s First Words”, a couple of rips on the pages, but seeing as how this was a title we didn’t own, we had to have it.

Then in the afternoon a little trip round our hometown unearthed a copy of “Best Bunny Book Ever!”.  A collection of three Golden Books into one.  “Naughty Bunny”, “Bunnies” and “The Bunny Book”.  Really pleased with finding this one, in great condtion and only a quid!

==================================================

18/02/20

A couple of new additions via eBay arrived yesterday.    A copy of “Hop Aboard! Here We Go!” from 2012 and a 1988 copy of “Farmer Patrick Pig”.  Both new titles to our collection.

==================================================

11/02/20

Sadly nothing new to the collection in the past week.  I may have to resort to another eBay purchase at this rate.  We did nip to Didcot at the weekend, to check the charity shops out and the only title I found was a copy of “A Day At The Airport”.  But, we already own this edition and at £1.75 was pretty steep for a duplicate.  Hopefully someone else will pick it up and enjoy it.

==================================================

03/02/20

We decided to check a new town out on Saturday and headed to Farnham as we had not visited there before.  In the very first charity shop we struck gold with a copy of “With The Animals” from 1975, which we hadn’t seen before (other than online), so grabbed this for £1.99.

The we found another copy of Good Night, Little Bear for 99p, very slight different on the details from the one we have.  We didn’t need this one, but as always, was too nice to leave behind.

Finally we found a copy of the Harper Collins 2011 version of Great Big Mystery Book for 99p and we didn’t have this pressing, so a great find too.

Overall to find a new title for the collection and 1 new pressing is a great day’s searching.  Very happy.

==================================================

28/01/20

Picked up a couple of really nice condition hard backs at the weekend in a charity shop.  Neither were needed as we have these pressings, but were too nice to leave.

==================================================

21/01/20

Another nice little haul from eBay yesterday.  Picked up another four of the Collins Colour Cubs series from the 1970’s, all in great condition too.  We might be close to a full set of these now…

==================================================

10/01/20

A nice shipment came in from eBay yesterday with four new titles added to the collection.  They are: “Smokey The Fireman”, “Big And Little – A Book Of Opposites”, “The Biggest Catch Ever” and “Mr Frumble – Smallest Pop-Up Book Ever!”

A great haul and at a very good price too, never seen the Mr. Frumble one before, so had to pick that one up.

==================================================

06/01/20

I was thinking about moving the blog from the old site onto here, but have decided against it, so we start fresh from 2020 onwards instead.

Over the weekend we picked up two more books for the collection.  Both during a trip to Reading.

First up was a nice copy of “Cars And Trucks And Things That Go” from 2004.

And also another copy of “Best Nursery Rhymes” even though we have this, it was dirt cheap and couldn’t resist it.  This is dated from 1991.

The only other find was another copy of “Please And Thank You Book”, it was a slightly different pressing to the two we already have, but it was overpriced, so we left it there.

==================================================

Welcome to the blog part of our site.  This is where we will post updates on what we have added to the collection.
